Happy Fathers Day…

I really missed you today. I think about you quite frequently, but today, I really missed you. I am a grown man and a father, but it sure would have been great to be with you today and be a son.

You weren’t perfect, and you did do and say things that I didn’t agree with or think were warranted at times. But you did have input that helped shape who I am and influence why I do what I do. During the good and the not so good, you were my dad.

I really missed you today.

Until next time,

Mark

The Days Go By

The days do in fact go by, but although its been eleven years, you are most definitely not forgotten. Your presence is felt and I sense that you check on us here in Nebraska. Not every day is a great, or even good one, but things are what they are.

They say time goes faster the older one gets. I think that time goes faster when you have lost a loved one that meant so much to you. It truthfully doesn’t feel like eleven years. Where does time go?

From all of us in Omaha, know that you are missed.

Love,

Mark, Dana & Christina

Sing, Sing a Song

Sing, sing a song
Sing out loud
Sing out strong
Sing of good things not bad
Sing of happy not sad.

Sing, sing a song
Make it simple to last
Your whole life long
Don’t worry that it’s not
Good enough for anyone
Else to hear
Just sing, sing a song.

Sing, sing a song
Let the world sing along
Sing of love there could be
Sing for you and for me.

Sing, sing a song
Make it simple to last
Your whole life long
Don’t worry that it’s not

Good enough for anyone
Else to hear
Just sing, sing a song.

Oh, and don’t forget to:

Sing for the day
Sing for the moment
Sing for the time of your life
Come for an hour
Stay for a moment
Stay for the rest of your life

So very proud of you and what you have accomplished!

143!

Until next time

Sweet 16!

16 years ago, on this very date, the most incredible thing happened. I became a Dad!

To my dear daughter:

When I learned that Mommy was pregnant, I wished I would have a daughter. After finding out I would get my wish, I knew you would take hold of my heart and I would truly know what love was. I had no idea how powerful the love for one’s own child could be. My love for you has never waned and it never will. Thank you for being a tremendous person and giving me 16 memorable, joyful and love filled years. I look forward to many more years.

Love you sweetheart!

Daddy

So Proud…

This blog entry is for one and only one person. Words cannot even begin to express how proud I am of you and what you have accomplished. I always try to encourage you to strive for your best and to find something positive in all your attempts that don’t result in a home run. Remember that in life, just as in baseball, you’re not gonna reach base let alone put it over the fence every at bat. If you get a hit and reach base 4 out of 10 times in baseball, you’re in the Hall of Fame. The key to all of it is to learn and get better as you go.

Take what you learned yesterday and today and apply that to your tomorrow. I don’t know if you have ever watched the movie, Rocky Balboa, but there is a scene where the main character, Rocky, is talking to his son about never quitting, especially when you don’t feel like going on. The character Rocky shares with his son the following, “You, me, or nobody is gonna hit as hard as life. But it ain’t about how hard ya hit. It’s about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward. How much you can take and keep moving forward. That’s how winning is done! Now if you know what you’re worth then go out and get what you’re worth. But ya gotta be willing to take the hits, and not pointing fingers saying you ain’t where you wanna be because of him, or her, or anybody! Cowards do that and that ain’t you! You’re better than that! I’m always gonna love you no matter what. No matter what happens. You’re my son and you’re my blood. You’re the best thing in my life. But until you start believing in yourself, ya ain’t gonna have a life”.

When you’re tired or think your overmatched; persevere. Don’t quit. Don’t let laziness or procrastination or fear hold you back or defeat you. Find your confidence and let it empower you to take what is so rightfully yours. Play fair, but don’t let others take advantage. Never allow yourself to ever underachieve because you feel bad for your competition or yourself. Never underestimate anything or anyone. A wolf in sheep’s clothing is still a wolf.

Perhaps you find inspiration in these words. Maybe you don’t. But whether you believe them or not, you must understand that I believe them and am trying real hard to use them as motivation to be the best I can be.

If nothing else, I really want to celebrate you and your most recent achievement. As I have shared with you before, I’ve had my share of great accomplishments, but I never was alone at the top of the mountain. You have reached the top and I only have to view your face to know how tremendously gratifying that feels to you. If you like that feeling, I urge you to keep moving forward, especially when life hits you hard.

Congratulations… I am so proud!

Until next time,

Hey Ro D
